About Pathways
The Pathways Program services young adults between the ages of eighteen and twenty two years old for School District #308. Our mission is to educate young adults with disabilities and equip them with the tools needed to successfully transition to adult life with the ultimate goal of becoming productive members of their family and community.
In the Pathways Transition Program, we empower our learners to be self-determined. We encourage students to maximize their potential for independence in daily living, employment and recreational/leisure skills. Our students strive to be contributing members of their community. The young adults in our program participate in job experiences in the community to increase their vocational skills. Job coaches, provided by the district, offer support to our young adults to assist them in accomplishing their career goals. Individual’s career goals are based on individual’s skill sets and interests.
Currently, learners in our program participate in vocational training and recreational/leisure experiences at Oswegoland Park District, TJMaxx, Walgreens, McDonalds, Churchill Clubhouse, Oswego Optimist Club, Prairie Pals, Culvers and Rush-Copley Healthplex. By collaborating with the transition program, local businesses and community organizations may benefit from promoting a diverse community. In order to build a stronger community and expand networks, it makes sense for businesses and our young adults to form partnerships with one another.
